Septemberfest

The big day is here at last - the maiden art show of Artsparkian Aloisio Congrejo! This example only hints at the profound beauty of his work, his sculptures fuse fashioned prims with outstanding fractal textures. volando Amat's sim Porto Cervo is hosting the exhibition in the Main Square, it starts today!

In the Netherlands this weekend? If so don't miss the 5th annual GOGBOT festival being held in the small town of Enschede, on the German border. The theme this year, why none other than Steampunk! And if you're not in the Netherlands, no problem, just attend the virtual festival right here in Second Life. The event is being held at the virtual Enschede, there is streamed live music, experimental art, *freebies* and everything for the Steampunk-curious which, if you're a creative person, is you so go on, get dressed up in your coal-fired pants and wind-up monocle, and run over there! If you need further encouragement go see these Flickr pictures and if you need more information about what Gogbot 'is' this beautiful blog will fill you in. My point is... it's going on RIGHT NOW!

Nothing cheesy about this: the lovely Erika Allegri asked me to drop the following on you, yay somewhere new for us to go and get our art on! I went over to the sim with art park enthusiast and Professor of old stuff Ibra Koenkamp to see what was going on, as you can see here, it's looking promising already, and I know we'll be back in Parma in the weeks to come.
Erika writes:
"Second Parma is the Italian city of Parma in Second Life. It is located on the Monslab Island, and it is organized into several areas of historical and artistic interest, such as the 'Portici del Grano' and the 'Garden'. The Second Parma project is sponsored by the City of Parma, or as they like to say, the 'comune'... ah local government, you gotta love it... The goal of Second Parma, apart from giving us all the munchies for some decent ham, is to promote Parma in the world by raising awareness of this beautiful city and providing a new place for people to meet.
The first event in Second Parma is an exhibition dedicated to the 15th century painter Correggio. Scheduled for the beginning of October, the inworld show complements the real-life exhibition which will be held at the same time. "
For more information, see the official Second Parma blog. Oh, and little known fact, Correggio's real name was Antonio Allegri, any relation, Erika?
